Yes. Sort of. Except that in my case something else on the circuit had tripped the circuit breaker, so the fridge itself was fine. It still took us days to notice. And it was our garage fridge, during a hot August.

I pulled every shelf from the inside and hosed them down with a garden house to get rid of the food residue. I used paper towels to clean up the food debris inside the fridge. Finally, I diluted some bleach in water and put it in a spray bottle. I sprayed and wiped down every surface inside the fridge. Twice. That took care of the smell.

It took a few hours, but we still use the fridge.
