I am no Popeye but I have to get my arm wet with very soapy water. Once my arm is lubed up I can perform the operation. Just shove it in hard and snap the latch. I always figure it is how a protologist must feel doing his job.
Then I just use a damp cloth to wipe the soapy water off the engine parts.
