Yes, get it replaced, or move to a 997.2.

My 2007 Targa 4S had an IMS failure at 18,000 and needed to be rebuilt (under warranty, thankfully). I'm sure these failures are more rare on 997's, but I can vouch for the fact that they still DO happen.
