I've heard of some luck reversing the leads on the fuel pump to kick out whatever is jamming or clogging it, but its really a good idea to resist the "lets try anything, pour in gas etc to get it running". The ability of the motor to eventually run is rarely an issue on an early car, you need to be thinking about what needs to be done BEFORE its safe to start. Flushing out the tank and the rest of the fuel system along with replacing all the old rubber hoses is a good start.
