You guys are forgetting:
A Bridge too Far - Cornelius Ryan's epic novel-cum-movie about Operation Market Garden.
The Eagle has Landed - Also another movie from a novel, but Jack Higgin's classic, made corny for the big screen.
The Thin Red Line - I really did enjoy this, despite it's length and "artistic" impressions.
Pearl Harbor - Technologically brilliant, but a pathetic story, with weak acting and a very brittle plot.
