My Mom passed from a sudden heart attack. She went from cooking and eating dinner to passed away in less than an hour. No warnings at all.
I got the call and went straight to the hospital, it's about a 40 minute drive from my house. Was told that she had passed and helped my Dad and other concerned friends and relatives who had showed up.
After a couple of hours I was headed to the parking lot to drive down to my parents house to hang out with my Dad. I was not in the best state of mind myself, just from the emotional shock and a hard time believing what had just happened.
I got in the car and was trying to collect myself and started the car. The radio was on. There was no disc jockey talking, just silence for a few seconds. Then, "Spirit in the Sky" started playing.
I was stunned and just sat there listening for a minute and started breaking up. I got out of the car, leaving the door open and resting my head in my crossed arms on the roof of the car, continuing to listen to the music. I finally took a big sigh and for some reason looked up into the night sky while listening. Right then, a huge shooting star streaked across the sky.
This was in a fairly large city with a lot of lights. It had to be big to be seen. Right then I knew Mom was fine.
The song now actually makes me feel good and gives me peace.
