OK JJ, KeoRS wants to meet up to "see who best used the AT30 to clean up the engine bay!".

Having replaced my 14 ignition wires on my 993 this past winter (where is that bang head icon), I had a chance to clean up the engine bay.

Getting to two of the four upper spark plug wire hold-down clamps is impossible without removing the right induction plenum and center connecting piece or as one well known Porsche guru put it, by loosening all six clamps connecting the induction plenums to the cylinder head spigots and pivoting the whole assembly upwards.

Well that is not the way I do things and I doubt it would give me enough room without some ham fisted antics, so I removed everything atop the engine and cleaned all parts and the engine bay. It also gave me a chance to inspect all rubber parts. Sure enough, the rubber on both clamps holding down the fuel injection cross-over hose and engine harness had dried out and crumbled when removed. They got replaced.

Initially these engine look "busy" until you start working on them and quickly realize how simple they are...
