Yes, many of the Webley revolvers used this round. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was about a 255 grain bullet at around 750 fps. The British (at that time) seemed to think that a heavy bullet at a moderate velocity was the way to go. They also had a .38-200 round that used 200 grain .38 caliber bullet also leaving the barrel at a speed of 700 - 800 fps.
