One bit of boring trivia.
When you make a PDF or EPS file to print a 5x12 ft print it takes the mapping program about an hour, and it makes a 490mb PDF file. The RIP that we use to print the file takes only 18 minutes to process the PDF file and be ready to go. The printer takes about an hour to print the 12 ft long print at 720x1440 DPI. I know none of you really care but I am just amazed at all of that. I have been running large format printers since the very late 80s. I used to think a print file that was 40 MB was huge. I used to have a dedicated RIP that took overnight to process a file for a 3x8 ft print. Our customer actually mounts the prints on the wall sideways and looks at it very close up sometimes with a magnifying glass.
