Alan Johnson USA (California) sells a high torque starter for the 911 for $495.
Far out - I'll sell 2kw starters for that money all day.
I took my 0.8hp one into a local (here in New Zealand) place which basically custom makes starters.
They started with a Nippon Denso 2kW one (about 2.7hp!), and custom machined the mounting plate to match my Bosch starter.
NZ$350 + GST, or slightly under US$200 incl tax. It turns my 10.5:1 3.2 over ferociously.
