The non-S models should be dirt cheap at this point. They depreciated quickly and command a much lower price. Unless you're trying to wring out max performance it actually doesn't make that much different between the two models. Biggest issue is the valve guides. If you don't have documented proof they were redone properly then assume that they'll have to be done. I believe my local shop had about 100% failure rate on the early Multis that went through their doors.
