X2. I see a lot of this BS where I work. "Let's not fix it, I might have to do more work..." the alternative is, one day someone comes in, figures out the issues and fires the redundant people.
Make the case and if not rewarded, bring it up in the performance review. If still not rewarded, at least sleep at night knowing you did right.
