Hi guys,
I have noticed that every time i sign in here there seems to be a handful of questions trying to ID recaros or asking random questions about them and i figured i could help.
I run JJ Custom Interior in Tacoma, WA and we actually specialize in restoring vintage Recaros. Over the years i have gathered a wide collection of documents, seats, and parts for these seats and am always more then willing to help in any way that i can.
The most common question i see asked is "what seat do i have". The most common seats you will find should be covered in this late 80s recaro brochure.
You can see that each seat has a 3 digit code.. LS, LX, SR for the backs and A, B , C, D -
The ls has a larger rolling upper bolster where the lx while similar is a smaller more triangular bolster, these two seats are the most often confused from what i have seen.
As for the bases the A base is very flat and was made as sort of a "fat american" base and also the base they used for the early office chairs (still use a similar base today on the office chairs)
The B base is prob the most common, it was the standard base without the extendable leg rest where as the C base was the exact same but with the leg rest.
The D base is most commonly found on the srd's but can also be found on nearly any model from the a8 to the current recaro speeds.
I can go into alot more details but instead i will try to take the time to update my resource guide and post a link here for you.
