this too was my childhood-
along with taking things apart to see how they worked, this eventually lead to getting them back together and working.
my brother has a son, that is kept at home and can only venture outside when accompanied by adult because there are bad people out there waiting to hurt him. this appalls me to no end.
the boy is encouraged to play video games as it is a "safe " activity
