I've always wanted to tell them they can get a warrant if they want to search my car, but I've never been asked--or searched. I'm sure that if I answered each question with: "My vehicle contains nothing that I am not lawfully able to have" they might invent a strange smell or claim they thought they saw a weapon as grounds for a warrant.
The last checkpoint I got stopped at was in 2001. It was a sobriety checkpoint. The just wrote me a ticket for my window tinting. I fought it in court and, long story short, the judge threw it out because I was challenging the validity of the checkpoint and he didn't want to deal with it.
