Tabs

I'm going to be 100% honest in this post, but am going to try not to piss you off.

I went and read all of the S-Registry stuff (kinda weird slice of the past - Paul just learning to use the computer ).

It proved one thing alone to me - Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose - forgive my bad French (and for those who don't geddit and can't be bothered to go through a web translator, it is "the more that changes, the more there is the same thing" or something like that).

The purity vs R-Gruppe debate is going to be eternal until there are so few early cars left it stops (probably just slows down...). As far as I am aware the same debate exists across pretty much all classic car types, to a lesser or greater degree depending on the number of cars remaining. The fact that so many performance bits exist (factory and non-factory) for 911s, makes a 911 easy to modify. So they are.

Tabs - you can't force your personal crusade of purity on anyone (granted you can, of course, try). Further (and I'm really, really trying not to piss you off with this), posting clever Kubrick-inspired posts does not strengthen your case. As a Philistine in regard to such subtleties, I just skim through the post searching desperately for a meaning.

If people didn't get it, either its too obscure or they are not "smart" enough. Moreover, this gains you nothing - if someone is incapable of recognising the subtleties of something you have written (ie, not smart enough), they are equally incapable of realising you have scored a point against them.

Tabs - when I read the Early-S link, I really feel like you started the antagonism with the R-Gruppe, and that is, in my mother's words - nothing to be proud of...

And finally, I think I've now read the post by Paul you frequently refer to where he "threatened" to bring a gun to Cambria (my read of the post is that it is because he is a whiskey-drinking cigar-loving California-hating gun-toting proud-to-be Oregonian). I've also now read the post less than 10 minutes later where he reinforced that he was kidding.

So he was wasn't serious. This is the internet - the written word can be the poorest communication device for certain emotions, and sarcastic humour is getting close to the top of that list.
