The FLDS, which has at least 10,000 members nationwide, is a radical offshoot of mainstream Mormonism.
It's really the other way around. "Mainstream Mormonism" is a radical offshoot of original Mormonism because polygamy was illegal and stood in the way of statehood for UT.
