It sounds like you have carbon dust on the inside.
This may come from the little "button" in the centre of the dist cap.
If the centre rubbing part of the rotor is not completely smooth...it will grind that button slowly...giving you a carbon dust problem..and as you know..carbon conducts electricity.
This can give you a misfire situation.
