UPDATE: LA Health Food Store Owner Released | TakePart - Inspiration to Action
Quote:
James Stewart, the owner of the popular health foods store Rawesome foods in Los Angeles has been released on bail, one week after armed officers raided his shop for allegedly conspiring to illegally sell raw dairy products.
According to the LA Weekly, Stewart was released on $30,000 bail and told he could not sell unpasteurized dairy without a license.
Of the two other defendants swept up in the raid, Healthy Family Farms employees Sharon Palmer and Victoria Bloch, only Palmer has yet to be arraigned.
Stewart and his colleagues are accused of failing to fill out the proper paperwork to sell raw daily products in California:
While it's legal to manufacture and sell unpasteurized dairy products in California, licenses and permits are required. The 13-count indictment against Stewart, Palmer and Bloch alleges they sold raw milk and other raw dairy products without the proper permits and health safeguards.
The Raw Milk Three, as they've been dubbed by their supporters, aren't talking to the press because they've been slapped with a gag order by the judge.
Rawesome, which was featured in the documentary Farmageddon, is now the subject of a viral support campaign on the internet. The trio's supporters are being urged to use Tweet with the hashtags #rawesome and #farmageddon. NaturalNews.com has more information on how to show your support for Rawesome and the Raw Milk Three.
