My story is simple: I had $6K to buy a car. I looked for three months last winter/spring at all kinds of cars until I came across a '97 Boxster for sale by the original owner with 24k original miles....he took $6500; my search ended right there !!! I drove it home (over 600 miles), have had to do some minor body/top repairs & replace the driver's-side radiator, but my wife & I just got back from a 2500 mile round-trip down to SC & back; we did the entire Blue Ridge Parkway plus Skyline Drive & it was the most enjoyable trip !!! The one day it hit over 100 degrees in SC was the only time we put the top up & that was just to stay cool. Not only did the radiator work perfectly but i didn't screw up the A/C while replacing it (something I saw in another thread & was worried...).
Thanks to this website & Pelican, I am not afraid of attempting much of anything on this car & plan on driving it for many many years!
Oh, & we hit 30MPG on the 'boring' parts of the trip, doing 70MPH on the interstates !!! Pretty amazing for a car this fast & fun to drive.....
