Sorry about the loss! It does take what seems like an eternity to get your check. You should have your agent monitor the whole process including when check has been cut. The sad thing is you really don't know how good your insurance is until you have to file a claim.
The fact that they have to contact the police and play phone tag is a tenuous exercise...
