I am currently in a feud with another person over the internet regarding a motor purchased. I had a 1.7 914 motor complete w/ FI on Ebay a two weeks back. This man contacted me and asked me to end the auction early: I did. Then he wants me to find a way to ship it to him: I did. The quote I originally found for him was not honored due to the necessity of a 1/4" box for the motor to ship inside of (which apparently is a new law). This law prohibits the shipment of things without covering them in a protective box or covering to avoid damages. I took the motor to the shipping depot and they would not ship it because there was oil still in the motor. So I took it home and drained the oil and thought that I would try it again the following day. The following day, I drove the package over to the shipping depot. This time they informed me of the new law about having it covered and boxed etc. Instead of driving all the way home, I bought a box from them at a cost of $15.00. They then weighed the package and it was now in a different bracket because of it's additional weight which was from the 40lb box covering it which of course added to the costs. The shipping quote I was given before was $53.46. They now want $112.00 to send it. I called the buyer to inform him of this and he now wants ALL of his money back. I told him the trouble that I have gone through and he doesnt care. I have sold numerous things on ebay and to other members of this forum and have always tried to make both parties happy in the event of an unseen problem. His attitude that it's a big hassle and I'm probably just trying to squeeze an extra dollar out of him. What should I do? I'm not really in a position to swallow the $60 and ship it to him any way. I normally would have but this guy has been so rude that I dont think it prudent to do him a favor. He asked for his money back and I told him that I should get something for all of the trouble I have gone through and he doesnt see it that way. He wants a full refund. Any suggestions?

Actually, the 914 is a "Poor Man's Porsche". You buy one and you end up poor...Or it ends up covered with Por 15? Either way, something's poor...
