So late Sunday afternoon I drove down to Atlanta area real quick to meet a guy who was parting out a 928. He had all the little pieces I needed and the price was right. When we met, here is the outcome: Horn- one good, one dead. Door lock piece = missing. Weatherstriping (supposed to be great) = dry rotted and useless. Right turn signal lens = broken with a HOLE in it. SERIOUSLY! You are trying to sell me a BROKEN turn signal lens? License plate bracket = good. Visor mount = good. Plastic knob for arm rest = good. One vertical bracket for front grill (need three) = busted. So $25 later I left with the good parts and two horizontal grill pieces (not needed but I will sell off). The bright side of my story is that the car REALLY needed that 150 mile trip and I got to play with a Mercedes on the way home. We were both running strong and my car really woke up and wanted to play at 100. I had to reign her in then as our empty stretch of interstate was dissappearing and continuance would surely end in a ticket. The presence and respect a 30 year old car can get on the interstate is pretty remarkable. What a machine!
