My 944 will not start - Please Help!
Good evening friends,
My 1987 944 NA had a failing fuel pump and a leaking fuel injector seal. I was aware of the pumps condition for a short while and it was a concern but as soon as I noticed the fuel injector leak I shut it off and left it parked in front of the house until I could repair it. Unfortunately work has been hectic and I didn't get around to the repair until today (I parked her in the driveway about 6 months ago).
I replaced the fuel pump with a new one and went ahead and changed out the fuel filter while I was down there. I also did a complete fuel injector clean and reseal. I put the fuse back in, inserted my DME relay, hooked up the battery and nothing! The fuel pump didn't power on. I rechecked the electrical connections, fuse and relay and tried again. Nothing. I then disconnected the battery, took off the rear wheel and went back to check the pump. Everything was in order and checking the terminals with my voltage multimeter I confirmed no power. I disconnected the cable and hooked up a couple wires to a battery to test the pump just in case and it worked fine.
Obviously I put everything back together, checked the relay and fuse yet again and gave it another go but still nothing. The pump isn't getting power and thus the engine has no gas to fire! So what's wrong? Any ideas?
The car started and ran just six months ago. Nothings happened to it and all I did was the repair mentioned above. It does have an alarm system bypass which I considered being the culprit but it hasn't been messed with since that was performed years ago. I'm out of ideas and could really, really use your help.
Thank you kindly.
