Have done all of the following on trips:
1. garbage bags--thick "contractor" bags with duct tape
2. Plastic bins --as others stated use bungees to secure lids or you will lose one.
3. blue tarp. l;ay half tarp on bed floor, place luggage on tarp, fold tarp over, and use zip ties to close up. Make the seal tight so you don't end up with a blue parachute.
