A Museum Quality R11S bike's actual value in todays market
We all love BMWs........and that is one thing our common voice projects. The R11S series remains a favorite among many of us however, even though it was improved every year it was made until production stopped in 2005. Then there was the R12S, the HP2 Sport and a whole host of other new BMWs that have all combined to whet our stones.
I would like a opinion from the brothers here as to the actual cash worth of a Museum quality R11S however, because I believe very few exist in the condition of one that may be coming up for sale. It is a single owner, non-ABS, 1999, with the rare (first year only optional) factory paint that is yellow with the black and grey checkered flags on the fairing. It has a color matched lower belly pan, Ohlins shocks, a Staintune performance exhaust system with removable baffles, wave rotors front and rear, stainless steel brake lines, and a Corbin seat, wide rear wheel, and a few other things. The stock exhaust is included in the kit, as is the never used tool kit, never opened tire repair kit, and related owners manuals. The bike has been cranked once a week since new and remains stored in a dry, indoor facility. The total mileage on the bike is 3420 miles and it is 100% flawless in paint finish and all metal parts as well.
My question to the brothers is about the worth in cash of a bike like this when it is being bought or sold in the hard economy we are all experiencing. If some brothers here have a idea of what a fair, straight sale, price should be, please respond and let me know. Indeed, is there really much interest in a bike like this to collectors? Do any of you know of a better example of a R11S with fewer miles on it for instance? What should one pay for it and what should the owner ask for it? Thanks in advance.
