I agree that wages depend almost entirely on location. here is sunny southern California $12 an hour is what the janitors get, but in some places that would be a very nice wage.
I have 18 mechanics working for me and their average pay is $28 an hour, but the younger ones can barely afford to buy a house in this area. it's all relative.

I wonder how many retired mechanics would be interested in moving to florida and making a little pocket change working on classic cars?
If I were retired I would think about it.
