You get what you pay for with a safe. Most cases they serve more as a deterrent than security. High-end safes have tamper-proof mechanisms inside so that if someone were to pull the same stunt with them, they would 'fail' locked and you would either have to cut them open with a torch (thus destroying the contents) or call the manufacturer.
