SC's have been used on the 996 for many years with proven reliability running a low boost 5-7psi boost most problems incurred with them depends on state reg/smog testing etc. They run just like stock until around 4500 RPM then fun fun fun you mentioned the V3 SC which is the newest SC and oil for is self contained in the unit.
. Search these other forums with loads of info on them. I would suggest a PPI on car as precaution.
