Can't remember the exact date but in the early 80's a guy in a Cessna wandered, undetected, into commercial airspace, possibly had a heart attack (that was the "official" conclusion) his Cessna went into a climb and took out the tail of a Mexicana Airlines passenger plane and it crashed in a residential neighborhood outside LAX killing over 200 passengers and residents. Given the suicidal tendencies of the martyrs we, as a nation, face t is not a stretch to conclude that taking down large commercial craft in a landing pattern over residential neighborhoods thereby by killing a lot of citizens may be their idea of attacking the non military population and creating fear, death and confusion. Don't overlook the fact this mentality is after maximum kill for least amount of expenditure and a Cessna taking down a large commercial craft may be a good enough trade off for them.
