Porsche engines throughout the years have always had problems and issues - the Boxster engine / drivetrain is nothing new. There have been a bunch of failure of the Intermediate Shaft Bearin (IMS Bearing) over the years, but that is now repairable with aftermarket kits. I think the important thing to remember is to change your oil every 3,000 miles or so.
