I disagree with NYC on the topic of quality of life.
However, I do agree with the somewhat morbid truth to the fact that we, as a society as a whole, put more "value" on pro- athletes, movie stars, and even race car drivers than we do with teachers.
Sad, isn't it.
I'm no academic. In fact, I am simply a high shcool graduate.
So, I am not afraid to admit that I cannot enter a debate such as this fully armed. (even if you don't want to admit that it has turned into a debate)
Rather, I enjoy reading through the posts. People have such incredible differences of opinion. It's interesting. And on may things I can honestly see both sides.
Again, I'm no academic, but it seems that thoughout human history there have always been rich, there have always been poor... there have always been oppressed, there have always been oppressors.
Is this likely to change? Probably not. Human nature. Period.
Is it a reasonable thought that everybody on this planet should be born with the same oppertunities as everybody else?
I don't think so. It just isn't so.
Ok, I'm rambling... keep it up guys, i'm enjoying this and I'm not going to call any names!
