Ok, on the way out the door, but here are some quick answers.
He does NOT have a license. He is a friend of the family. His family runs a charter fishing business in Alaska and he has been boating for years. He also has a degree in boat mechanics.....
He was fired....
I like the idea of having the boat trucked over here to be fixed. we can watch it be repaired.
The wife is so mad right now at all of our choices, but we completely blame ourselves.
We have two options again...
One...hire a LICENSED and INSURED captain and have him deliver it after it is repaired.
Two...truck it over. (Before or after).
I just mentioned the repairing here idea to the wife....these are her concerns:
The insurance company may not want a damaged boat to be trucked. The trucking company may not want to do that either, and if any more damage occurs, they can blame it on the grounding.
We don't have a relationship here or there with any boat yard. So, it's not like we are taking it to someone we know or trust.
If any one can recommend or more importantly, WARN us of a bad repair yard, that would be most appreciated.
Out the door now, thanks for humor, advice and place to vent.
