I realize the look of Boxster rims, however they look ok and are strictly for track use. My problem is tire compound. I have run all sorts of tires, but finding 15" Hoosier slicks for my Fuchs is not on my list. Therefore, the 17" blacked out, Boxster rims. I realize the added weight and it's consequences.

(I forgot to mention I am a mechanical engineer, a 12 year Porsche tech & owned my own shop where I got to build race cars for everybody, but me. A car accident where a guy rear ended me finished my brilliant shop ownership and technician career. Back surgeries were involved.)

My car is not fast, and does not have a lot of horsepower, but it does have new Bilstein shocks and all the kibble, to make it handle well. My problem is I have to touch the brake pedal, "brake pedal bad". Even with good compounds, they are NO match for slicks. With slicks I can carry higher speeds through to corners. My experience with slicks is always one with envy, they make all my students cars that have them, do what they can't normally.

I have seen guys come out of state, during the national club event here, with the Boxster rims setup, on their 901. Unfortunately, I was not interested at the time to find the 901, Boxster rim clad, owners to find out exactly what sizes they were running. I too did not want to remove the Fuchs, any other rim does look worse on a 901. That was then, now I have changed my mind.

What I do remember is after my run group, one of them told me to put some Boxster rims on mine, to make it handle like theirs. He indicated to me that the small weight increase, even at the worst spots to gain weight, was still overcome with the tremendous grip from running a slick. It was that gentleman who I quote when I say "grip monster".

So, oh Haha, you think a 7" rim all around will fit? Do you happen to know what size spacers, or length of wheel studs I need? I have looked on the net for some time, but I cant find the right info yet. I do run all 4 rims and tires the same size now, which helped a bunch with pushing through the corners. It's also nice to be able to rotate the tires too.

We just had a HPDE with the Lapping Days Club a little bit ago, a friend emailed me that there was a professional photographer there. You can see my car at work, usually with a student in the car with me. If you go to Rennsportfoto.com, check the 8/22 day, bottom of the row, my car is the brown one. I like page 12, there are two pics, back to back laps, notice the white Mazda still behind after next lap. Of course we are not racing, but we do run them darn hard!
