Angry Why would someone drive a moped on I-95?

North Carolina law allows mopeds to operate on any street, road or highway, regardless of the speed limit. But the vehicles themselves cannot exceed 30 mph on a level surface, according to Marge Howell, public information officer for the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles.

Two fatal crashes close I-95N lane near Fayetteville :: WRAL.com

Two people were killed early Friday in two separate crashes that shut down part of northbound Interstate 95 just south of Fayetteville. Both crashes involved tractor-trailers, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The first wreck occurred at mile marker 35 when a tractor-trailer crashed into a moped, causing a fire. The driver of the moped died.

Authorities did not release the name of the moped driver and did not say if the driver of the tractor-trailer would be charged.

The second wreck, near mile marker 34, occurred as traffic backed up from the first wreck. A driver of a vehicle that rear-ended a tractor-trailer died, authorities said.

Last Friday I was on the same part of I-95 at the same time.
