The times I've seen this done, it always split attendance. You get a lot of people for the ceremony who don't attend the celebration, and people that skip the ceremony but show up to par-tay - usually the older set in the former group and the younger set in the latter. Rarely will a large number, especially locals, devote a whole day to a split event.
