We missed the first couple of episodes of season 1 of Justified so we bought the DVD when it came out. This show is like "Breaking Bad" in that each show and each season build on each other. To really understand what is going on suggest you get the DVDs for season 1 and 2 before season 3 comes out.
Almost guarantee you will watch them non-stop.
