Yeah, that's my point Chris. The total of 2517 for all T coupes in '71 can't be correct. Most likely the # for the Karmann coupes is correct but not the Porsche built cars. The proof is in the list of VINs on the Early S registry.

Most likely the car I listed is the highest VIN of a Porsche coupe that year so the reference books should read 2583 not 583. Bottom line, the car you have photos from has the correct markings. I am a bit puzzled by the 'C' series but there must be an explanation I don't know of.

Do you have photos of the A pilar VIN plate and DOT sticker? BTW, the date of 12/70 makes sense for a VIN of 939.

If you remove the passenger side knee pad the 7 digit production # will be 101XXXX.
