You are right with the limited numbers in the US, the ROW cars had different colors and there is no known limitation..check the mcodes M97, M98 and M99.
The 87/88 CE are all made in the beginning of the MY, but the 875 VINs are all over the place and not a complete series.
I heard from over 1500 "89 SEs" all over the world, that is why I expect the same (for CEs and SEs).
The other ones are not as nice as the US SEs.
