It seems to be about the size of a mass-market paperback book, which I doubt is a coincidence.
That seems like a convenient size to me - maybe small enough to stuff in a jacket pocket. My droid is a little small to read on, and ipads are too large to be convenient. Plus I dislike the ipad's housing - too round and slippery IMO.
