OK, I'm such an idiot. For the past 2 days, I've been trying to get this new-to-me motorcycle running. It would start and run for about 5 minutes, and then sputter and die. Frustrating. I thought it might be a dying battery from sitting around for 3 weeks in cross-country transit. So I plucked a working battery from my other bike and swapped it into the "new" bike. Still did the same thing. Grrr.
There's a fuel petcock. But it protrudes from the underside of the tank (have to lift the tank up to get to it) and looks like an unmarked little knurled knob--not like the clearly marked 3-position switches by your left knee I've had on previous bikes in the past. Doh! The dealership that shipped the bike must have screwed it in for safety during transit.
Oh yeah, just as I figured this out and took the bike for a test spin around the block, it started to rain. First rain in weeks/months.
