Used to keep about 3 on hand when you always wore a suit to weddings and funerals. Now, just the black one. If I can wear a sport coat, I do. Mostly with a tie. If I'm not going to wear a tie, I wear a sweater under the coat or no coat.
I don't do open collars with coats. I hate tee shirts with sport coats. The reason is something should always be above the coat collar.
