Just to bump this up.. for general knowledge..

The fuel pump doesn't turn on till the DME senses the engine cranking via the speed sensor.. this is indicated by a small wiggle of the tach needle durring cranking.. IIRC teh DME needs to see 200 RPM before activating the fuel pump.
