For a small but interesting gift, how about a
Life or
Look magazine from the day or week she was born? They'll provide a little snapshot of the world she was born into. Other weekly (or even monthly) mags would work too but old copies of
Life &
Look are fairly easy to come by. If she's in the right age group, a
TV Guide from the week she was born will recall the popular programs of the day. I think there are on-line sources for back issues of newspapers as well. These would be available for the exact day of her birth.
You'll probably have to spring for some earings too but this will at least be something unique.
