I've liked devo since the came out of Akron Ohio in the 70's when i was in high school. They fit into the alternative music that i like so much more then mainstream classic rock that i still dislike. To me, devo kraftwerk, and elvis costello is my classic rock. I just saw them last summer when they came to Pittsburgh. Took my 19 yo daughter who now likes them. Devo is an acquired taste so I'm not going to turn you on to them if you don't like them now. They have influenced many artist today and they are often quoted as being influences along with the pixies, sonic youth, and others. As far as how the sound now....great! Face it, they never had the most challenging vocals or instrumentals so it's not hard to think they can't do it now that they are all well into their sixties. Devo has a good catalog of tunes beyond whip it. What I noticed most about the concert was how unbelievable LOUD it was. They also have great energy and you can tell they aren't faking it for the money like other 80's bands on tours now. Their funny, witty and are having fun. Their lineup is mostly the same also with some minor changes. My favorite song "freedom of choice".
