Phil,
There are many different ways to lift the 911 engines and I've been using these nylon straps for the front and chains for the rear side with my engine hoist similar to yours.
Engine #1 (June 2011):
Engine #2 (Sept. 2011):
For the rear lifting points, I use the 2 upper transmission studs with washers and nuts to keep the chain in place.
