i have a soft spot for flashlights. by soft spot, that means i am getting obsessed.

i have a streamlight polystinger for the home. it is 15 years old, and i just burned out the bulb. the rubber on/off button tore, so i imagine the torch is on it's way out. it is bright, reliable..but old school. it has an incandesent bulb. but it will still freak a racoon out.

i have added to the arsenal, a cop-light. a 511 light. no battery. it uses a capaciter to store juice. goes from flat dead, to full charge in 90 seconds. LED, and BRIGHT as hell. complete blackout in a tunnel half a mile in the earth, i fired that thing up, and hardened miners were saying "WTF?!!!"" it was like the sun.

that FENIX is great. i just dont trust all the lumen stuff. side by side, i usually dont see the proclaimed lighting numbers. and for a home light, i love rechargable stuff. the old maglight rechargable was fantastic back in the day.

maglight had such a headstart on everyone. i wonder how they dropped the ball.?
