It has a 911 engine in it, but perhaps from a different year. The red shroud over the fan was found on cars from 78-83. A 76 would have a green shroud. A 78-83 3.0 liter engine is not a bad thing , it's a better engine than the earlier 2.7. Carbs would not have been original on any 911 after 1974 (I think).

If you look near the base of the fan on the right side you will see the engine number (near the oil temp sensor). Also look for rust! Check under the battery, the door sills, under the headlights.

Take it to a mechanic that knows air cooled cars and ask for a pre purchase inspection (PPI). Also, check out a book called "The Used 911 Story".
