It seems evident she isn't a ne'er do well slacker, or maybe she is but her problems are more grave than that. One of our friends, formerly a successful banker, went down into manic depression, repeated hospitalizations, her husband divorced her, her friends gave her money to pay for psychiatric care, it was very hard. All ended well, she got the condition under control, met a great guy, they are happily married and doing fine.
