My battery life is poor as well but I can almost get through my entire day on a charge.
I am a heavy user, tons of emails and phone calls all day long. At night it is dead.
Hopefully 5.1 will be out soon with some tweaks for better battery life. I am thinking the notifications are the killer as well as location monitoring.
